Starting out as a realtor creates many emotions that one would not expect to connect to a job. You feel a little overwhelmed as it seems that information is passing by you like the stars in the beginning of Star Wars, but amongst all that you feel many many other things. Excitement and enthusiasm are definitely two of my major emotions especially since I made the life changing choice to veto my original plans of becoming a Physician Assistant and pursue a career in Real Estate instead. The excitement of taking my career into my own hands, taking charge and being the procuring cause of change in my own life is empowering if not anything else. If you spent 5 minutes with me well you would know that enthusiasm radiates from me like the sun, which can sometime be an understatement for how strong it can come off. For the most part, being positive is just part of who I am, the trick is to use it for the better good of the field right? My goal over the next 12 months is to post the many ups and downs to starting in real estate, the successes, the not so great stuff and everything in between. I believe that documenting the journey will allow for me to grow and hopefully give others some encouragement and maybe even a laugh or two along the way.
Some interesting things that have happened to me so far (catching us all up to date).
My first inspection with my team leaders client was full of sparks if you would like to call it that. Jokingly he wanted to stick a lighter to the faucet to make sure that it didn't light on fire, if you have seen there is a documentary on HBO that does this. In any case, later on that afternoon it was discovered that there was combustible gas in the water....Uhhh please don't light that lighter. I thought this was a big deal but apparently it is kind of common. I guess this is just one of the many things that I need to learn in the field. All is well, the client found another house to be in love with!!!!
Finding my way around this office some days is fun because all of the hallways are named after streets, as if being in real estate does not involve having enough street names in your head try remembering whether you just showed a house on 28th street or if your office is on the 28th street hallway. Either way the first few days were comical. Other than that just pushing by week to week trying to absorb as much as I can and enjoy the scenery on the way. Talk to you all soon, thanks for reading! B
